At this point we’d create an event just to have Lupita strut her stuff on a red carpet…you know she would kill it.
Here is the Academy Award Winning actress slaying at the 2014 MTV Movie Awards…oh yes she's wearing Chanel Fall 2014 RTW. Yassss!
We’ll get back to that in a moment but let’s talk Lancôme first. Namely, the beauty inspiration for the event. We love her hair style from celebrity stylist Larry Sims. Her makeup was fun and Celebrity makeup artist Nick Barose gave the recently appointed Lancôme ambassadress “sparkly, disco-inspired eyes” for tonight’s red carpet. Barose wanted to complement Nyong’o’s colorful dress with a silver metallic eye.
We got the scoop on the colors she’s rocking.
And finally, its not a proper fashion moment until theres a Lupita Nyong’o/Jared Leto moment. So here it is, enjoy.
El maquillista de celebridades, Nick Barose, le dio ojos brillantes, inspirados por la disco a la nueva embajadora de Lancôme, Lupita Nyong'o. Barose quería complementar el colorido vestido de Nyong'o con un look metálico de plata.

We love a simple retro look that looks just as appropriate on a red carpet as it would on a yacht or photo shoot. This is how Rihanna does a shirt dress…as a gown! Ok, ok maybe it’s a little more like a robe left open…but she pulls off this look as well as the model!
The only question that remains is would you wear this look? And if so where? How would you accessorize? (Perhaps a henna hand tattoo?)

On May 13, Epic Records, in conjunction with the Estate of Michael Jackson, will release XSCAPE, an album of new music by the internationally beloved music icon and King of Pop, Michael Jackson. The project features eight new tracks, which the world will be hearing for the very first time on the new album. For the ultimate fan experience, XSCAPE will also be available in a Deluxe Edition, which includes all of the sourced Michael Jackson recordings in their original form. The XSCAPE standard and Deluxe Edition’s are available for pre-order beginning April 1 on iTunes.com/MichaelJackson and elsewhere, and available at all retailers worldwide on May 13.
XSCAPE is executive produced by Epic Records Chairman and CEO L.A. Reid, who, after an initial mining of Jackson’s archives by the Estate, was granted unlimited access to the treasures representing four decades of material on which Jackson had completed his vocals.
Reid curated the final list of recordings to deliver to the producers, who retooled the production to add a fresh, contemporary sound that retains Jackson’s essence and integrity. It’s a process Reid calls “contemporizing.” The album’s lead producer, Timbaland was one of a handful of producers Reid believed had the gravitas, depth and range to creatively engage with Jackson’s work. Additional producers include global hitmakers Rodney Jerkins, Stargate, Jerome “Jroc” Harmon and John McClain.
“Modern music and artistry would look and sound completely different if not for the groundbreaking contributions Michael Jackson gifted to the world,” remarked L.A. Reid. “Michael left behind some musical performances that we take great pride in presenting through the vision of music producers that he either worked directly with or expressed strong desire to work with. We are extremely proud and honored to present this music to the world.”
The title of this album honors Michael’s album naming process. He always chose a song from the album to name his projects and, beginning with THRILLER, used only one word titles, each with an edgy quality to them. This is true of the new project. Written by Michael Jackson and Jerkins, and produced by Jackson and Jerkins, “Xscape” has further significance in that it is the one track on the album that was ‘contemporized’ by the producer who recorded it originally in the studio with Michael.
John Branca and John McClain, co-executors of the Estate of Michael Jackson said, “Michael was always on the cutting edge and was constantly reaching out to new producers, looking for new sounds. He was always relevant and current. These tracks, in many ways, capture that spirit. We thank L.A. Reid for his vision.”
XSCAPE is a long awaited collection of exciting new music that will thrill the legions of fans of one of the world’s most revered and best-selling artists, as well as attract a whole new generation discovering his artistry for the first time. In conjunction with the release of XSCAPE, Epic / Sony Music will launch an unprecedented global campaign with the One Sony sister companies, Sony Corporation, Sony Mobile Communications, and Sony Network Entertainment International drawing from all of Sony’s strengths and consumer reach.
"Michael has long been a treasured member of the larger Sony family," said Kazuo Hirai, President and CEO, Sony Corporation. "Starting with the release of ‘Off The Wall’ in 1979, Sony Music Entertainment has since released all of Michael’s recordings. We are thrilled and privileged to be collaborating as One Sony to celebrate Michael’s latest legacy, and bringing his fans an exclusive experience through our upcoming initiatives with our products and services."
More news about Michael Jackson’s upcoming album will be revealed in the coming weeks. Keep visiting www.michaeljackson.com for new details.
As you may already know I am a big fan of bold colors! I also have an affinity for prints.
I am huge admirer of Peter Pilotto. I have admired the otherworldly prints juxtaposed with soft sculptural shapes that are created by the design duo behind, Peter Pilotto. I found myself gravitating towards their pieces at Saks, but not quite able to drop that much cash on a silk scarf, sculptural organza skirt or printed sweater.
When I heard about the Target collab...I was excited but not sure what to expect, sometimes these collections simply miss the mark. Not this time! The pieces shown at the editors preview were amazing and captured the essence of the brand. Prince points, were on point!
Then I saw the commercial spot on TV, this is in the midst of the glitz an glamour of fashion week. Ask anyone covering fashion week, how unimpressive anything fashion realted becomes this time of year...Well my frozen heart melted when I saw this:
That's the party we all want to be at! Gorgeous ladies in fun dresses (and pants) unabashedly celebrating the new season and dancing to the music stylings of Sylvester (here's the video for the song: Sylvester 'You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)')
Sidenote: On September 20, 2004, Sylvester's anthem record, "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)," was inducted into the Dance Music Hall of Fame. A year later, on September 19, 2005, Sylvester himself was inducted into the Dance Music Hall of Fame for his achievement as an artist.
Back to the clothes! Target has these tremendous launch parties for theses designer collaborations. This time I was on assignment (covering something fabulous at New York Fashion Week) I went to Target to shop for a few looks and scored big time. Everything was under $45...I went a little crazy...but I have since worn everything at least twice and have the photos to prove it!
Most of the photos are with celebs including Dr. Mayim Bialik. I've been a fan of her acting since 'Blossom' and now she's all grown up and wrote a fantastic vegan cookbook. Let's not forget this actress, author and mom is also a neuroscientist!
I interviewed Rosie Perez in this Peter Pilotto for Target dress and Rosie gave me a compliment I quickly returned one! P.S. Shes so fabulous! Long story short, I plan to wear the crap out of everything!
About The Designers
Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos are the designers behind the PETER PILOTTO label. Pilotto is half-Austrian, half-Italian and De Vos is half-Belgian, half-Peruvian. They met whilst studying at Antwerp’s prestigious Royal Academy of Fine Arts in the year 2000. The design duo’s vision of womenswear embraces both new and classic perspectives on elegance. Otherworldly prints combine with soft sculptural shapes to form the handwriting of the design duo, something which evolves and is explored each season as opposed to being reactionary. Pilotto is focused toward textiles and print whereas De Vos concentrates more on silhouette and drape. However, the duo work beyond their individual perimeters to create something new, their process being very organic and beyond an integration of the two fields. PETER PILOTTO prefer to guard a little magic around their creations for the wearer’s own input. This is reinforced by the idea of the curiosity cabinet, which is something that holds stimulus for the duo. The curiosity cabinet is a metaphor for journey, their cultural mix and a collection of recurring things that enamour them, such as natural phenomena. The duo are particularly fascinated with a scientific view of nature, as reflected in the microscopic, encrusted, hyper-real prints of the collections.
Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, the seminal, 1973 breakthrough album, has been remastered and will be issued on CD, vinyl, limited-edition yellow vinyl, and in a box set featuring recordings of “Live at Hammersmith 1973” on CD, a DVD of Bryan Forbes’ 1973 film Elton John and Bernie Taupin Say Goodbye to Norma Jean and Other Things, along with a 100-page illustrated hardback book packed with rare photos, memorabilia and a new essay containing interviews with Elton John and Bernie Taupin.
“I’ve had the best time [in Las Vegas] because I always thought of it as a challenge and wanted to put on the best show. I don’t think there could be a better looking show than this in Vegas or in any venue anywhere.”
Also included in the Deluxe Edition and box set versions is a suite of nine, new cover versions of classic songs from Goodbye Yellow Brick Road performed by Ed Sheeran, Emeli Sandé, Fall Out Boy, Hunter Hayes, Imelda May, John Grant, Miguel featuring Wale, The Band Perry, and Zac Brown Band.
This was the album that created a true superstar. Although he was already known in 1973 due to the growing success of his previous albums—including Don’t Shoot Me I’m Only The Piano Player, Elton John and Honky Chateau—it was the release of this double album, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, that made Elton John a household name. It went on to sell 31-million copies. Goodbye... perfectly marries the various elements of Elton’s craft: classic songwriting, glam stomp, R&B, gospel, jaw-dropping performances, soul and a large helping of brilliant showmanship.
The album spent eight weeks at No.1 and went platinum seven times over in the U.S. It also contains Elton and co-writer Bernie Taupin’s most successful song, “Candle in the Wind;” a No.1 hit three times, in three different versions, in three successive decades, ultimately becoming the biggest-selling single of all time. It also features dynamite standards such as “Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting” and “Bennie and the Jets,” the latter being the song that led to Elton becoming the first white performer to appear on the influential American R&B TV show Soul Train. The album is also ranked No. 91 in Rolling Stone magazine’s “Top 100 Greatest Albums Of All Time” chart. In a career filled with highlights that other artists can only dream of, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road stands as a towering achievement, a defining moment in the most exciting era in rock history.
Often referred to as the pinnacle of Elton and co-writer Bernie Taupin’s creative powers and commercial success, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road was the eighth studio album the pair had released in a three-year period. But the recording of the album wasn't the smoothest of experiences. After initial attempts at recording in Kingston, Jamaica, were derailed by the double whammy of industrial action at the studio and further disruption was caused by a world boxing title fight in the town, Elton and the band returned to the familiar settings of Chateau d’Herouville. The album was completed in a staggering seventeen days (including mixing!) and the result is a body of work of huge ambition—kicking off with the grandiose, epic prog rock sound of “Funeral for a Friend / Love Lies Bleeding,” and effortlessly segueing between pop, hard rock, soul, and stunning heart-wrenching ballads.
The album artwork was also a giant leap forward creatively for Elton. Whereas earlier album artwork either didn’t feature Elton at all, or showed him as an earnest early 70’s songwriter, here he can been seen resplendent in sparkling platform boots, a satin bomber jacket and, of course, his soon-to-be trademark flamboyant eyewear. The sight of him stepping from an unglamorous normal street into a magical fantasy world is not only a metaphor for the transition he was going through as an artist but is one of the most defining images of early 1970’s rock music.
The lasting legacy of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road can still be seen with a wealth of emerging new talent quick to praise the influence it had on their own careers. Artists ranging from BRIT winner Ed Sheeran (Candle in the Wind), R&B sensation Miguel (Bennie and the Jets), rock band Fall Out Boy (Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting), add their own interpretations to the classic originals on a sensational bonus disc. Recorded with producer Peter Asher at the helm, Elton and Bernie’s influence on modern day Americana, R&B and soul, and rock singers continues to shine through.

The whole world is watching Russia. As the Sochi Olympics approach the halfway mark, a new law from Moscow bans international adoptions by gay couples as well as single people from nations that allow same-sex marriage — just in case these singles are gay. Russia's so-called "gay propaganda law" also has stirred enormous controversy.
Against this contentious backdrop, Russian-born pop star Grace Valerie has released a brand-new video that she hopes will contribute a message of love and understanding to the raging debate on the role of LGBT people in her native country.
"Diversity is what makes us strong," Grace Valerie says. "That's what I've learned here in America."
The now Los Angeles-based dance music artist explains that, "It's sad that my LGBT friends and fans don't feel as free in Russia as they may elsewhere. However, Russia's LGBT grassroots movement is small but growing. Gay bars and clubs continue to open across the country, despite society's disapproval. Things now are much better than they were in the USSR or as they are in some African, Arab, or Latin countries. Clearly, they are much better in the EU and the USA. Love is not only the most universal language, but also the strongest driver throughout human history. I sincerely believe in its power."
"My new video is an expression of love," Grace Valerie added in a recent Huffington Post interview. "It crosses nations, shapes, colors, and forms. It's all about human relationships, about the complexity of love – something anyone can relate to."
Titled "Not For Love," Grace Valerie's new single features a sexy, power-packed vocal performance atop an hypnotic beat. The video's eye-opening ending speaks directly to the questions of love and sexuality now being discussed intensely, from Moscow to Malibu.
"As a Top 40 dance artist," Grace Valerie says, "I'm very excited and proud of the bold statements in my latest release — both my video's message to my fans and the bridge it provides between the two music cities of Los Angeles and Nashville. It's a very exciting time!"
