4 Tips to Get Glowing for Summer

Evette RiosAs Latinas and ladies of color we are all too aware of hyperpigmentation. They first came up in conversations between our mothers and our tias talking about las ‘manchas’ that appear. Now we’re talking about those pesky dark spots that appear after we get a cut or a tan fades.

I spoke with Evette Rios of ABC’s “The Chew” for some of her summer time tips to get and keep your skin glowing!

1. Drink 8-10 Glasses of Water

Summer is when you spend a lot of time outdoors. With family visiting and more frequent guests encourage everyone to stay hydrated and have water available.

Keep bottle available or in a pitcher (add a little flavor by adding fresh pineapples or cucumber slices).

hat2. Use SPF

Even if you are an island girl you still need to be mindful of the sum. Rios suggests wearing a big floppy hat along with SPF to keep protected from the sun and minimize your exposure.

Olay 13. Boost you skincare routine.

Being a TV regular, Rios is very aware of the importance of her personal skincare routine. Which is why she is a fan of Olay Professional Pro-X Even Skin Tone. 2 large russet potatoes

1 large Spanish onion

2 to 3 tablespoons olive oil

10 large eggs

kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper (to taste)

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 450F. Peel and chop potatoes and dice onion.

Step 2: In a non-stick pan, or cast iron skillet, heat olive oil on medium-low heat. Add potatoes first then season well with salt and pepper. Place chopped onions on top.

Step 3: Cook on low to medium-low heat for 15 to 20 minutes covered, stirring often, softening potatoes and onions, but not browning them too much.

Step 4: Let potatoes cool. Oil a 9" to 10" baking dish or pie plate. Add potatoes.

Step 5: Beat the eggs and pour over potatoes. Bake for 15 minutes. Then turn heat down to 300 degrees and continue baking another 30 minutes.

Step 6: Let cool. Serve from baking dish, or turn onto a platter and cut into small slices or cubes. Served best when warm.
