The Heart Truth campaign, sponsored by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute at the National Institutes of Health, is returning to the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City to unveil its Red Dress Collection 2013 Fashion Show on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013. Celebrating women’s heart health and the powerful impact of the national symbol for women and heart disease awareness — the Red Dress — the show kicked off Fashion Week and featured more than 20 celebrities walking the runway in fashions created by some of America’s top designers.

This year, the campaign wants women to know that every woman has a role to play and a story to share in the fight against heart disease. In addition to the celebrity voices amplifying the issue of women’s heart health, The Heart Truth will highlight stories of women who have survived and triumphed over heart disease and its risk factors. For the first time, the Red Dress Collection will feature a non-celebrity who has worked to improve her heart health. The woman chosen this year, whose identity will be revealed at the show, is a 55-year old from Brooklyn, Conn.

We asked the actress what it means to walk in the runway show:

“Estoy muy contenta en participar, para mi es súper importante crear conciencia entre las mujeres de la terrible enfermedad.”

"I am very happy to participate, for me it is super important to create awareness of such terrible disease among women".
