Tan-dah! The 3 Summer Preps You Need To Glow All Summer

“One Mississippi, two Mississippi” ... this is the famous and very unfortunate line from Friends where Ross tried the tanning studio before summer time (and didn’t like it). Nevertheless, there are various different ways to prep your skin before going on holiday, and faux tan is just one of them…

Your Body is a Temple

One of the best ways to start prepping your body is to give it some TLC on a regular basis. No crash diets, no weird soups, just a good old fashioned balanced diet will do the trick. The main goal? 2-3 liters of water per day is the optimum to keep our skin hydrated and functioning to the T. This is especially important when summer comes around, as we need to replace the water that we sweat out in the gym or on the beach. If you’re not a fan of plain water, try vitamin waters or adding some fruits to your normal bottle such as berries, mint and cucumber so you don’t feel like it’s a chore. Another trick is to incorporate fruit and vegetables that are very rich in water into your diet: cucumber, watermelon, grapefruit, spinach or zucchini.

Shine bright
One of the preferred ways to prep our skin before going under the Sun on a holiday trip is fake tan. There are many ways to achieve the look - from self-tanning at home with a couple of products, and going to a tanning studio, to even calling a tanning professional to come by your house and help you out. However, you don’t need to be an 8 on the tanning scale (like Ross) but to just have a slight bronze before going on holiday. A faux glow can simply serve as mental preparation and reassurance to go out on the beach and do your thing!

Clever Contouring
Another way to step into summer with confidence is using natural bronzers and highlighting powders to mimic a beach glow. They are the perfect solutions especially during springtime and the beginning of summer, while the skin is still prepping to receive all the sunlight it can get. Applying bronzer onto the hollows of the cheeks and on the forehead, whereas the highlighter serves as a magnifying glass on the highest points of the face, thus resembling a natural sun kissed skin. Both of these products can also be applied on the neckline. Just make sure to get the appropriate shades of bronzer according to your skin: it varies from fair, light, medium to dark.

Shimmer or no shimmer, bronzers and highlighters make for the perfect face touch up without having to spend hours in the tanning studio or on the beach.

So here goes, feed good food to the body and soul and let the sunshine in!
