Whether you’re young or old, healthy or battling an illness, most people will experience hair loss at some point in their life. In fact, some of the most common battles we face such as menopause, weight gain, dry skin, and wrinkles go hand-in-hand with hair loss. 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will experience some degree of hair loss or hair thinning in their lifetime.
In honor of Hair Loss Awareness month, we’ve put together a list of Do’s and Don’ts to keep the hair you have healthy … and on your head where it belongs.
Do eat the right foods
o Without enough protein, your body can’t replace the hairs that you naturally shed every day.
o Iron deficiency can actually contribute to more hair loss than the regular 50-100 daily strands
o Foods with plenty of vitamin C help in the good absorption of iron, so try to combine iron-rich foods with those that are high in vitamin C to get the most out of the iron. Vitamin C also help with your body’s production of collagen, which in turn strengthens the capillaries which supply your hair shafts.
Do pay attention to ingredients in your hair care products
o éprouvage features a progressive plant cell technology specially developed to promote scalp health to create the ideal environment to produce stronger, healthier hair.
o If you are noticing more hair loss than usually, try the ingredient Redensyl – its gentle enough for daily use and will not cause any harsh side effects as other hair loss products have shown. (was originally used in eye lash growth products)
éprouvage’s Restorative Scalp Serum(Ulta.com $30), a potent scalp treatment that features an award winning ingredient Reydenslthat works to target hair at a cellular level. Hair goes through 3 phases and Redensyl helps to keep hair in the growing phase longer resulting in fuller, thicker hair and less hair fall.

Avoid these foods
o The artificial sweetener, aspartame, has been cited as a cause of hair thinning and hair loss.
o Food additives can also have a negative effect.
o Raw egg whites contain a substance that binds biotin, which prevents its absorption.
Don’t overdo it
o Overdoing vitamin A-containing supplements or medications can trigger hair loss, according to the American Academy of Dermatology.
Don’t use harsh ingredients
o Ingredients such as Minoxidil can cause side effects such as burning, stinging, or redness at the application site.
Don’t damage your hair more than you have to
o Turn down the heat on styling tools and cut out any unnecessary damage you are doing to your hair
o Be gentle when brushing – comb knots out from the ends up to avoid breakage. We like the Conair Shower Detangling Brush has soft, flexible bristles that gently detangle wet or dry hair.
