Last night, Lupita Nyong'o killed it on the red carpet at the 2016 Met Gala. The TONY Award nominated actress was a vision of beauty, as always. Naturally, we had to give you more details on her look so we got tips from her makeup artist Nick Barose for you to try out.
"I love the idea of playing with shine and a metallic texture for this MET Gala and Calvin Klein dress,” said Nick Barose. "We kept the makeup monochromatic and played with shine, with metallic on the eyes and bronzy lips against her skin.”
When it comes to glowing skin on the red carpet, it’s about being gently shiny in certain spots, like the cheeks and bridge of the nose, instead of shiny all over which can end up greasy looking. To help keep the overall look fresh, dewy and polished, I used Lancôme La Base Pro Pore Eraser on the T-zone area, as well as Lancôme Translucence Mattifying Silky Pressed Powder in 550 Suede to control shine. On the rest of her face, I used Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Makeup Stick in 550 Suede C, Lancôme Le Corrector Pro Concealer Kit in 550 Deep Suede OS under eyes to brighten, and Lancôme Blush Subtil Palette in Rum Raisin on the apples of her cheeks.
To keep her eye makeup smooth and long-lasting, I applied Lancôme Aquatique Waterproof Eyecolour Base in 06 Sienne as a first step. Next, I used Lancôme Color Design 5 Pan Eyeshadow Palette in 602 Gris Fumee on her lids. I lined the top lash line using Lancôme Artliner in Noir, and on the lower lash line I used Lancôme Le Stylo Waterpoof Long Lasting Eyeliner in Noir Intense. To add a bit of sparkle, I used Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner in GlamRock. To finish the eyes, I applied two coats of Lancôme Grandiôse Mascara in Noir Mirifique to lashes. Her brows were defined and filled in using Lancôme SourcilsGel Waterproof Eyebrow Gel-Cream in 06 Noir.
