We went backstage at Reem Acra, to get details on the beauty inspiration for the Spring Summer 2017 collection. We spoke to makeup artist Carole Colombani who used Maybelline products to create the beauty looks.
The inspiration was from Renaissance paintings. The goal was to create a romantic, timeless, fresh-faced girl that would match the Spring 2017 collection. “I wanted to create this kind of beautiful – and not just flushed from a party face – but a super, freshly, romantically done look.”
1. Carole begins by prepping the skin with Master Prime Blur + Illuminate before applying Dream Cushion Foundation (launching January 2017) with a brush. She then uses concealer from the Face Studio Master Camo Color Correcting Kit (launching January 2017) where needed. Next, she creates a flush on the apples of the cheeks starting with Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lip Color in All Fired Up working it into the skin. Then, Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lip Color in Lust For Blush is layered over it to get that perfect, romantic flush.
2. For brows, Carole delicately fills them in if needed with Brow Precise Micro Pencil but wants to ensure the texture still feels like hair. Then she uses Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara in Transparent to set them in place.
3. Carole then adds eyecatching highlights in the inner corner of each eye with the Master Strobe Illuminating Face Stick. She also layers one coat of Colossal Spider Effect Mascara with several coats of The Falsies Push Up Angel Mascara (launching October 2016), saying that the latex texture of Colossal Spider Effect gives a nice extra stretch to work with, but the brush on The Falsies Push Up Angel Mascara helps with precision.
4. On the lips, Carole creates a just-bitten look by applying Color Sensational Lip Color in Blissful Berry with a lip brush, concentrating at the center of the lips and diffusing it out towards the outer corners. She also uses Brow Precise Perfecting Highlighter (launching January 2017) along the edges, to create a contrast, noting it has a matte texture so it creates a nice fade.
