On Saturday August 20th, 2016, NYX Professional Makeup announced Laura Sanchez, of YouTube channel LauraMakeup25, as its Beauty Vlogger of the Year at the Fifth Annual NYX Fine Artistry of Cosmetic Elites (FACE) Awards Show in Los Angeles.
"I am so excited and honored to be named Beauty Vlogger of the Year," said Laura. "This competition gave me the opportunity to grow my career as a makeup artist and has opened so many doors for me in this industry. I am also grateful for the wonderful people I have met throughout this competition, and am proud to call the Top Six my friends."
Laura and the five finalists revealed their final NYX FACE Awards makeup looks and challenge videos inspired by the theme, "Emotions," before a live audience of more than 1,200 beauty enthusiasts, over 100,000 viewers on the YouTube live stream, show host Kandee Johnson with emcee Charismastar, and a panel of top beauty and makeup artist industry judges at the Novo Theater this past Saturday.The esteemed judging panel included Ve Neill, one of the most renowned makeup artists in the motion picture business; Ingrid Nilsen, a top vlogger and personality on YouTube with more than 4 million subscribers; Megan McIntyre, Beauty Features Director at Refinery29; and Melissa Giannini, editor-in-chief of Nylon magazine.

As the Beauty Vlogger of the Year, Laura will receive $50,000 and a year's supply of NYX Professional Makeup, and the opportunity to kick-start a professional career in makeup artistry. The five runner-ups – Kristi McKee (@rawbeautykristi), Fernanda Machado (@pompberry), Brianna Fox (@missbrimarie), Alexa Poletti(@alexapoletti) and Haley Wight (@cosmobyhaley) – will each receive $15,000 and a year's supply of NYX Professional Makeup.
In April, NYX received thousands of video entries; from there, a panel of judges selected the 30 semi-finalists. After creating looks inspired by the challenge themes, "Fairy tale," "Anime," and "Optical Illusion," the semi-finalists were narrowed down to the top six finalists via rounds of public voting. Between total video entries submitted and votes cast throughout the entire competition, the Fifth Annual NYX FACE Awards was the largest to-date.
