Bibhu Mohapatra Fall 2012: Regal and Razor Sharp

Hair has been the talk at the tents during Mercedes Benz Fashion week. I went backstage at Bibhu Mohapatra to have L’Oréal Professionnel Master Session Artist, Amit Abraham, break down the regal hairstyles for the women on the Fall 2012 runway.

The Bibhu Mohapatra Fall 2012 collection revolves around early the 20^th century Chinese opera, The White Haired Girl, which tells the stories of the trials of Chinese peasant life and enduring spirit of love in colonial China.  “The collection revolves around the protagonist’s strength, passion and courage for love in the imperial China,” explains Mohapatra.

Friday, 10^th February 2012, New York -  Jouer Cosmetics to partnered with kate spade new york for their Fall 2012 presentation. To complement the Ready-to-Wear collection with its rich hues, playful prints and Parisian influence, Jouer Cosmetics created a classic, clean look this season with a romantic edge.

The look featured a clean and luminous complexion with natural, rosy cheeks and a light Orchid Tint stained lips. The focus for Fall was on the eyes, which were kept dark, smoky and mysterious.

Hot Models to Spot: Lara Stone and the SL Roadster at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week

The streets of New York are brimming with the hottest models in town for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and topping the charts is Lara Stone, who is appearing in a live installation at Lincoln Center alongside the all-new 2013 SL550 Roadster in a backdrop inspired by the Icons of Style images, captured by Alex Prager.

The Mercedes-Benz Icons of Style images are being recreated on Monday, February 13th in the lobby of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week bringing to life Stone's experience with famed American photographer and filmmaker Alex Prager.  Prager references Fellini characters and Hitchcock in a 21st century update on classic Film Noir image with Stone portraying a strong protagonist, who overcomes loneliness and fear as a getaway driver, outpacing a tornado.

The SL Roadster over the past 60 years continues to be the ultimate style icon in automotive design and this newest model now steps into the limelight with its first appearance in New York. Completely re-designed, the 2013 SL550 combines stylish, sporty and elegant luxury while maintaining classic, well-balanced proportions established decades ago.  The attention to detail and premium materials define the character of the interior, and transports it to an entirely new level of style.  Packed with innovation, the new SL is made almost entirely from aluminum and weighs considerably less than its predecessor creating a new dynamic for efficiency and handling.  The new V8 biturbo engine delivers 429 horsepower and takes just 4.5 seconds to go from 0 to 60 mph.  Technology like the unique FrontBass system, which turns the SL into a concert hall, whether open or closed, or the retractable hard top which only takes 20 seconds to fully open or close, are all pioneering developments making their fashion week debut with the help of Lara Stone.

Stone's supermodel presence in front of the camera or in the Mercedes-Benz Star Lounge will be felt among the fashion set this February.  She and Prager will spend an afternoon in the posh exclusive Star Lounge, which is also entirely new this season.  Interior designer, Wesley Cadle put his unique skills to work using visually stunning wall coverings and textiles by Porter Teleo and artwork by New York native Stephanie Hirsch.  The lounge offers a luxurious and chic experience by invitation during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Lincoln Center from February 9 – 16, 2012.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is taking place in New York City at Lincoln Center from February 9-16, 2012 with more than 80 designers presenting their Fall 2012 collections including Naeem Khan, Diane von Furstenberg, Carolina Herrera, Vera Wang, Michael Kors, BCBGMAXAZRIA, Rebecca Taylor, Reem Acra, Narciso Rodriguez, Nicole Miller, Charlotte Ronson and Betsey Johnson.

Houghton Fall 2012: Visions in White

L’Oréal Professionnel Master Session Artist, Laura Polko, created three looks for the Houghton Fall 2012 presentation at New York Fashion Week. 

Romantic curls dramatically parted to one side were the perfect complement to the fluid textures in the winter white collection by designer Katharine Polk.  Variations of this style included loose curls left loose or twisted into a low bun then either gently tucked or slicked behind the left ear.

Celebrity Makeup Artist Gita Bass created Tina Fey's stunning look for the 2012 Golden Globe Awards tonight, using Votre Vu makeup and skincare.

"We were inspired by Tina's Oscar de la Renta dress, which was a gorgeous purple shade, so we decided to create a rich, sexy but low-key look that wouldn't compete with the gown." said Gita.

Gita started by prepping the face with skin-soothing Votre Vu Tragic Magic Rescue Creme. Celebrity hair stylist Louise Moon created Jean Dujardin's  handsome hair look for the 2012 Golden Globe Awards tonight, using Leonor Greyl hair products.

"We wanted to create healthy, super shiny, movie star hair" said Louise.

After first shampooing with Leonor Greyl Shampooing Au Miel, Louise massaged stimulating Leonor Greyl Complexe Energisant Ampoules into the scalp and left in without rinsing. 

She then applied Leonor Greyl Mousse au Lotus Volumatrice from roots to end and blew dry for a thick, voluminous effect.

Once dry, she lightly smoothed in Leonor Greyl Huile de Palme beautifying oil. "It creates a gloss that reflects light beautifully making Jean look like an absolute movie star" said Louise.
