Today M·A·C VIVA GLAM spokesperson Lady Gaga and Nicola Formichetti, Gaga’s stylist, premiered a short film directed by Ruth Hogben, which will unveil The Masterpiece that Nicola designed for Lady Gaga as part of the VIVA GLAM social awareness campaign.
The interactive movement on VIVAGLAM.COM leveraged the powerful voices of Gaga’s monsters and M·A·C fans to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS and ultimately support men, women and children affected by HIV/AIDS globally. Participants contributed self-portraits, shared information about HIV/AIDS and encouraged friends to ‘live with passion and love with protection’ across their personal social networks. Thousands of people participated and Nicola chose select images to incorporate in the design of The Masterpiece, a dress that Lady Gaga reveals in the film.
The film that will debut on VIVAGLAM.com was truly a collaborative project inspired by the fans, for the fans. Additionally, it celebrates the success of Lady Gaga’s VIVA GLAM campaign, which has helped to raise $55 million for the M·A·C AIDS Fund over the past two years. In February 2011, Gaga set the goal of raising $250 million for the M·A·C AIDS Fund by the XIX International AIDS conference in July 2012.
As her time as a Viva Glam spokesperson comes to a close, Lady Gaga urges her little monsters and MAC fans to continue to help reach $250 million: “The M·A·C AIDS Fund has raised $224 million to date. Go out and buy a lipstick for your girlfriend, your boyfriend, your mom or your sister --- $26 million to go, little monsters!” |

Facts:
Limit alcohol to one drink per day or avoid it completely since there seems to be some link between alcohol and breast cancer, although we don’t know how strong.
Maintain a healthy body weight and limit fat intake. There is a clear link between obesity and breast cancer because of the excess estrogen production in fatty tissue.

Celeb Stye: Dita Von Teese
The international queen of retro-style and burlesque, Dita Von Teese, has partered with Kiss to launch a line of easy to apply half-moon manicured nails in a deep red shade, recalling the high-fashion vintage look of the 1930’s and ‘40’s.
“I wanted to offer a shortcut to obtaining the nail style
that I have been wearing for the last 20 years, and Kiss has helped make it a
reality,” notes Von Teese.
Dita Von Tesse Nails by Kiss take the drama out of mastering
this shape while bringing glamour to every woman. The technique of leaving the
nail bed, or “moon,” bare or neutral-toned actually began as a way to prolong a
manicure as it grew out. This signature look was also considered a status
symbol for the age. “I think it was a way of showing that you had someone take
the time to do your nails and perfectly paint the half-moon rather than doing
them yourself,” says Von Teese. “If you look very, very closely, the most
glamorous and iconic portraits of the 1930s and 1940s show the half-moon
manicure.”

Hugh Jackman talks "Real Steel" & Eminem
In an interview with NextMovie.com, actor Hugh Jackman admits to being a huge Eminem fan.
During the filming of "Real Steel" I heard that you and director Shawn Levy went to an Eminem concert. There's an Eminem song in the movie, and played in the trailer for "Real Steel." Can we assume that you two are big fans of his?
I think Eminem is extraordinary, and one of the greatest live acts I've ever seen. I'm a real fan of live music, but if I go to a concert and I feel that I'm just getting their CD, basically, played for me, it bores me. I would prefer to just listen to it. But he, Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Dr. Dre: It was one of the most electrifying nights I've ever been a part of. I was actually ushered to this area and I went behind the stage and just watching Dr. Dre get ready to go onstage, it was kind of like watching a prizefighter getting ready for a big fight. There's just so much that they put in to every song. And Eminem, he's just, oh my God, he's just the consummate performer. A professional. And everything comes from an honest place. Comes from his heart. That's what I like about him.

Forward with Ford 2011
I was invited to attend the Forward with Ford 2011 out at Ford’s headquarters in Dearborn, outside Detroit to learn about some of the top trends of 2011 that will impact the future. Here's what I learned about the trend of:
Emerging Technologies / Information Addiction.
Nano, bio and information technologies along with cognitive science have the potential to change the future of humanity. This trend is as much about the attitudes consumers have toward emerging technologies as it is about the technologies themselves. Economists predict a $1.5trillion global multi-industry market for nano tech. The influence of IT is evidence by the 7 billion people on the planet that have some form of direct Internet access. With smartphones expected to replace desktop and laptop PCs as the primary web access point by 2015, the convergence of the vehicle, the mobile device and the Internet is here. Smartphone-toting drivers expect their wireless web connections to continue seamlessly no matter where they are, including in the car – where, according to a national study from market research firm Arbitron, Americans spend some 3 hours each day. The winner in this space not only has to help the connected consumer maintain their productivity in the car, but provide access to their wireless world in a smarter, safer way appropriate when travelling at 70 miles per hour.

Get The Look: Natalia Jimenez
On the red carpet, Natalia Jimenez was wearing a vintage 1960’s dress with Jimmy Choo shoes. Her inspiration was Jackie O. Her make-up and hair stylist Octavio Corona tells us how he achieved her retro-inspired look.
FACE:
“I started with CoverGirl Simply Ageless Corrector #230 under her eyes and wherever she needed a little extra coverage to even her skin tone. Then, I combined different tones of CoverGirl Simply Ageless Foundation to obtain a flawless natural look. I started with Medium Light #235 combined with Warm Beige #245 to match her exact skin tone. And, I also used a warmer tone in Soft Honey #255 to highlight cheeks on each side of the nose,” he noted. “Then, I used CoverGirl's Simply Ageless Sculpting Blush on her cheeks in Lush Berry #230 and to finish and seal the look, I applied CoverGirl Professional Loose Powder in translucent light #110.
ROSTRO:
EYES:
“For her eyes, I used CoverGirl Eye Enhancers tones in Golden Sunset #115 along the crease and then, I applied CoverGirl LashBlast Fusion mascara in Very Black in her upper and lower lashes for a more dramatic look.”
OJOS:
“Para lograr darle profundidad a sus ojos, apliqué CoverGirl Eye Enhancers en tonos bronce, Golden Sunset No.115 cubriendo el parpado y luego apliqué la máscara de CoverGirl LashBlast Fusion en negro Very Back para lograr un look más dramático.”
LIPS:
“I wanted her eyes to be the central focus so I used a light color on her lips for a natural look. First, I applied LipPerfection LipLiner in Radiant #230 to define her lips and covered with Lip Perfection LipColor in Kiss #275. I love this line of lipsticks because not only does it have gorgeous colors, but also has a moisturizing complex that gives lips a smooth and soft look that lasts longer.”
LABIOS:
“Quería que sus ojos fueran el foco central así así que utilicé un tono rosa más sutil en sus labios para darle un look natural. Primero le apliqué LipPerfection Lip liner de CoverGirl en tono rosa Radiant No.230 para definir sus labios y lo cubrí con el labial Lip Perfection lipstick de CoverGirl en tono rosa claro Kiss No.275. Me encanta este labial porque su formula contiene un complejo humectante y evita que los labios se vean resecos logrando que luzcan suaves y duren toda la noche.”
HAIR:
“She wanted her hair very straight, so to seal that silky straight look I used Pantene Medium to Thick Anti-Humidity Hairspray to give her hair a glossy shine that will lasts through the night.”
CABELLO:
“Para finalizar, ella quería llevar su cabello liso y suelto entonces para lograr ese look liso, le apliqué el espray para controlar la humedad de Pantene Medium to Thick Anti-Humidity Hairspray para darle más brillo y para que su peinado durara toda la noche.”

How To Get the Runway Look: Backstage Beauty at Jenny Packham 2012
spring 2012 ready-to-wear / new york fashion week
Jenny Packham continued to partner with L’Oréal Professionnel to
create the hair for her Spring 2012 runway show, which took place on September 12 at the Tents at Lincoln
Center. Creating the simple yet perfect style to complement the delicate designs for the second consecutive
season was top hairstylist, Leonardo Manetti.
“Have you seen her all in gold, like a queen in days of old; she shoots colors all around; like a sunset going
down…” These lyrics from The Rolling Stones’ tune, “She’s A Rainbow,” are what Jenny Packham describes
as the inspiration for her Spring 2012 ready-to-wear collection. The latest line is a soft yet dramatic prelude to
Spring: billowing silk chiffons and French lace – some adorned in Swarovski crystals - in a vibrant range of
hues that gracefully floated and sparkled down the runway.
Lead hairstylist Leonardo Manetti for L’Oréal Professionnel, matched the theme and tone of Packham’s
colorful, romantic vision. “We wanted to compliment the flow of the dresses, so the hair had to be soft and
beautiful,” said Manetti. “The clothes and colors in the collection are so vibrant, fresh, and young, and so is the
hairstyle. An ethereal ‘perfect’ blowout was the ideal look.”
“Our style for the show was a healthy naturally straight hair with a high shimmer factor. Sleek but with
movement,” noted Packham. “A look that our glamorous international clientele can aspire to and achieve.”

On the eve of the 20th anniversary of Nirvana’s seminal rock album “Nevermind,” MTV News is delving into its archives and soliciting expert and fan opinions’ to deliver a week-long celebration that will reveal the importance, rise and lighter side of one of the most impactful bands of the 1990s with “MTV News Presents: Nirvana – The Nevermind You Never Knew.”
In addition to releasing rarely seen footage from the band’s multi-year relationship with the network, MTV News is giving fans the chance to vote on “Which Rock Album is the Greatest of 1991?” and “What is the Greatest Year for Rock in the MTV Era?” with a new online poll that remains open through Wednesday, September 21st at 12 pm ET/9am PT.
"Nirvana's ‘Nevermind’ is the rare album that not only lends itself to being mythologized, but deserves to be, as well," said James Montgomery, Senior Rock Correspondent for MTV News. "You remember where you were when you first heard the opening chords of ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit,’ mostly because you knew -- on some level -- that nothing would ever be the same again. The song and album single-handedly defined a moment when rock truly rocked, and anything seemed possible."

How to Get Red Carpet Hair like Julianna Margulies
Julianna Margulies walked the red carpet for the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards in a gown by Armani Prive and the best accessory: flawless hair.
EverSoPopular got the scoop on how she got that hair. We caught up with Margulies' hairstlyist
Matthew Monzon. Check out Monzon’s hair care breakdown and how to video, using Leonor Greyl products.
I started with damp hair and worked Leonor Greyl’s Lait Luminescence Bi-Phase Detangling Milk through her hair, applying the product only from the mid-shaft down through the ends so as not to over-saturate it.
To create volume, I combed Leonor Greyl’s Mousse au Lotus Volumatrice through the hair with a wide-tooth comb and blow-dried it using a two-inch round brush. I made a deep side part on the left and then set the top portion of her hair in Velcro rollers for a little bit of extra oomph.
Then, I started to work on the back:
· Making sure to spray Leonor Greyl Voluforme Styling Spray for Volume and Hold to each section before curling, I used a 1½ inch curling iron to barrel-curl the bottommost layer of Julianna’s hair in a uniform direction· I created another layer on top of that one, barrel-curling the sections but this time changing the direction of the curl from that of the first layer
I continued this pattern for remaining portion of the back of Julianna’s hair by creating layer on top of layer, maintaining the direction of the curl within one layer and switching to the opposite direction for the next. Alternating the direction of the curl between layers allowed the hair to fall into the wave that I was hoping to achieve.
After completing the back of Julianna’s hair, I removed the top half from the Velcro rollers and brushed through with a boar bristle brush, creating a soft wave with my fingers.
To complete the look, I finished with a spray of Leonor Greyl’s Laque Souple Light Styling Spray for hold.”
Red Capet Beauty: Emmy Winner Julie Bowen
You don't need to be an Emmy winner to have a gorgeous glow! I learned that makeup artist Heather Currie used Votre Vu sincare on Emmy winner Julie Bowen’s face for the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards.
Heather says:
I started prepping Julie Bowen’s skin for the Emmys by applying the Luxe Lips Moisturizing Lip Balm from Votre Vu’s Duette, a hand cream/lip balm duo. I usually like to begin with lip balm when getting a celebrity ready for the red carpet to allow the moisture to really set in while I start on the rest of the face.
Then, I used Votre Vu Fleur Blanc Tonic for all skin types, swiping it over Julie’s skin to make sure that it was clean and ready for additional skincare.
I then used Votre Vu’s Attentive Sérum Delicat Pour Le Visage to nourish her skin and applied Votre Vu Tragic Magic Rescue Crème. The Tragic Magic gave a nice, subtle glow to Julie’s skin and is great for preventing any skin irritation or reactivity.
To finish Julie’s skincare prep and keep her eye area looking fresh, I applied Votre Vu Tout le Monde Antioxidant Eye Gelee to the eye contour.
After starting the makeup application with foundation, I began on the eye shadow, using Votre Vu’s Sweep Gentle Eye Makeup Remover to clean up any makeup that fell to the under eye area with a cotton swab.
When I finished Julie’s makeup, I applied a little of Votre Vu’s Luxee Yeux Eye Beauty Balm high on her cheekbones, just under the eyes, for a little bit of glow. I completed the look with a few spritzes of Votre Vu’s À Votre Santé Elixir Essentiel to set the makeup.
Before Julie left for the red carpet, I used Votre Vu’s Champagne Kisses Enhancing Lip Balm to enhance her lips prior to applying lip-gloss.
